“I was made to feel different, but now I use my gift to give people hope and comfort” – Chris Riley
We at BoxHuman take time to celebrate humans who are inspiring, helping, and bringing light within the world. We do this in order to rebalance some of the negative messages we often hear, see, and receive on a daily basis. We met up with one of these amazing individuals…
Hi Chris, thank you for speaking with me. Let’s start by getting to know you. Can you please tell us who you are and what you do?
‘Hello, sure! I’m Chris, I’m 25-years-old and I live in Essex. I have three brothers, a cat called Missy and a wonderful job that allows me to meet so many different, inspiring people from many walks of life.
My personal interests are fitness and health, to help me keep a positive mindset, and photography and design, which I was very good at through school. I’ve worked as a psychic since I left college and I’ve never looked back.
Wow, a psychic! What an incredible gift to have been given. So, tell me when did you know that you had your special gift?
‘I was 9-years-old when I had my very first experience, one that I can remember anyway. It’s something that I’ve grown up with and have found very comforting and reassuring.
My ability has never been frightening. Even when I was nine years old and predicted a break-in at our family home, which happened that night, it wasn’t frightening. It was reassuring, as though someone was watching over me, telling me things that I should look out for.
I would say that I grew up feeling very different from other children, but never really knew why.
That’s really interesting, especially as some might think that it would have been ‘scary’ finding out that they had this gift. So, what was it like when you began your psychic career and were a ‘newbie’ in the scene?
‘The psychic world, in general, isn’t always the most supportive. However, I know who I can trust and I will always surround myself with those who encourage and support me.
I began giving free readings at around thirteen years old which lasted for around 3-5 years. While I was doing this, I was told that my readings should have been charged. However, because it was something that I enjoyed and felt I was learning, I didn’t want to take anything for it.
I now have readers who work for me, offering text & phone readings that are charged. However, I give a huge amount of time to free live readings, giveaways, and private messaging with my followers. I’m very lucky to have thousands of people watch my live streams, I truly enjoy helping and guiding my ‘followers.’
“I’m really passionate about sharing positivity and encouraging others to achieve their dreams.” – Chris Riley
As with anything, especially when it comes to ‘life’ there are always highs and lows. Can you tell us how you personally overcome these negative hurdles or challenges?
‘My fitness and gym sessions are my focus, if I feel demotivated or distracted I’ll always lift a few weights or go for a run. I find that I’m generally a very happy and positive person, but of course, we all have days every now and again when we need a break.
I also feel that talking is best, so many of us close off and don’t talk about our problems. I’m very lucky to have many supportive friends and some have become friends through my work; we can share problems and support each other.’
We at BoxHuman agree that talking and sharing are definitely good! So thank you for sharing. Based on that, can you tell us what you’ve learned from your life challenges and from being a psychic?
‘I’ve always been very compassionate, kind, and caring. Being a psychic has often put me in situations where I’ve had to talk about sensitive information, it could be the way someone has passed, for example.
Especially when being in an audience situation, this is not always the easiest situation to handle, but I’m often told that I deliver my messages and guidance beautifully.
My nan recently passed in December 2019 (as psychics or mediums we deal with grief in the very same way). She was ninety years old and a few months before she passed I was lucky enough that she came to one of my live shows, she said it was one of “the most beautiful things she’d ever seen”, that will stay with me for the rest of my life.’
I’m sorry to hear about your loss. It’s great that you were able to get that moment with your Nan and for her to see you live. Knowing that ‘time’ and life are so precious what do you think people should learn or take from you and your inspiring story?
‘I really want to empower people, showing them that they can achieve whatever they put their mind to. Especially with social media, I’ve built a strong and supportive following and client base through hard work and determination, but it does take a lot of self-belief.
Through that journey, I’ve found that the only person you can really rely on is yourself, but I’ve had so many wonderful experiences along the way and have been so lucky to meet some very inspiring people.’
That’s some note-taking advice right there – empower, self-believe and rely on yourself! So to keep the inspiring vibes flowing what one positive thing you would say to someone to inspire and empower them and what would it be and why?
‘I’m inspired by the difference that my work makes to people’s lives. I know how it feels to have lost someone that you love and to be in a bad place… I’ve been there, many times.
My work makes such a difference to people, especially when they have lost someone and are looking for a sense of peace – my readings definitely give people that sense of comfort, hope, and validation that their loved ones never leave them.’
And last but not least… A BoxHuman is an empowered individual. They will not be defined by society’s labels. They show the better qualities of humankind, such as strength, kindness, and inspiration. Can you please tell us what makes you a BoxHuman?
‘I’m a very kind and compassionate person and am definitely very empathetic through my work as a psychic, with the situations and things I deal with on a daily basis.
I’m really passionate about sharing positivity and encouraging others to achieve their dreams. I am also eager to work with charities, for example, I’m now supporting The Poppy Appeal, you’ll see my live streams and promotions on Instagram.’
“Thank you, Chris”
